Black & White

MEN IN BLACK

Charlotte and I both dressed as Men in Black for Halloween and we wanted to take some cool photos together. Out of the photos, this one was my favourite. This photo demonstrates unity with the photo looking complete because there's nothing missing, space because we are both in the center and in the middle ground of the frame. Also, breaking the rule "Avoid the middle" because we're both positioned in the middle.

NIGHT IN THE BIG CITY

It was my friend's birthday and she decided to go downtown Vancouver for dinner, so we did and afterwards, we walked through the streets and took a bunch of photos. This was one of my favourites. This photo shows a whole bunch of lines which can draw the viewer's eye up the building and to the night sky. It also shows shape in the buildings, windows, and lights. Pattern and repetition are also included with the repeating windows and floors of the buildings.

GEORGIE

This is my new puppy, Georgie, I wanted to take photos of her when she was still little because she's adorable and I knew she wouldn't stay that way forever. I'm so happy I did because she's so big now. This photo demonstrates the rule of thirds with Georgie being placed in the left part of the frame beside the middle. It also shows texture in her fur, as well as simplifying the scene so she's the main focus.

SPARKS FLY

Charlotte and I were able to experiment with sparklers and It was a lot of fun and a good learning experience. We had to see which shutter speed to be on, which setting worked the best, as well as lighting. This photo uses emphasis with the sparks being the main focal point. Space, Charlotte is in the middle ground filling up the frame but there is some extra space up top. Lastly, texture which you can see in the rough burning part of the sparkler and the soft background of her sweater and hair.

1989

This is one of my favourite props to use, especially for black and white photography because it gives the photo a vintage feel. This photo uses shape in the circular lens and the rest of the camera forming a rectangle shape. As well as texture, with the water droplets on the ground against the rough grip of the camera. Lastly, this photo simplifies the scene with only the camera being the subject and main focal point.
